Wand and Scabbard by Shendorion Wand and Scabbard by Shendorion
We're going with some friends to the Harry Potter theme park this weekend, and I'm certain my daughter is going to want us to bring our wands. I'm also certain I'll be carrying them both most of the time, so I rigged this to carry my wand plus another one.

The lighter wand is some mystery wood I nicked out of someone's yard trash a few years ago (I want to say hickory or scrub oak,) finished with oil and beeswax, and the dark one is carved out of a red oak dowel from the hardware store, stained and finished with gloss poly sealant. The leather is a belly cut out of my scrap bag.

This is amazing, they should give you the option of actually buying a Holster for your wand when you want to use it in the Orlando theme park, I got my wand the other week and have only had a chance today to try it out on certain parts of the park in HP due to other parts of the park rides needing tried out In Universal along with the parks and rides at Disney.

I had to, to my worry and regret, stick my wand inside my rucksack which was only JUST big enough to squeeze my new wand in; I was worried in case it would snap inside my bag as I was looking out and about in the park and different rides plus I had to stuff my Bag inside those frickin tiny Lockers they give you in HP land.

They should at least give you the bloody option of using much larger and deeper Lockers to fit your large bags and other purchases inside for safe keeping as I could only fit my bag in one of them stupid frickin teeny tiny LOCKERS!

I also had to use another locker for my other stuff, like my stuff from Wizacres, Honeydukes, WWW and Olivanders.

And they barely fit also.

Sorry for ranting a bit but I needed to let off some steam as the Lockers and heat along with the queues at the park really got me annoyed and tired at the end of it all.

I still had an amazing time.

This is by far THE best wand holster I've ever seen. I love the swirl design in the stitching. Beautiful.

Would you be offended if I asked to make one based off your design? that swirl is just awesome.

wow, nice :) Which hardware store did you get your red oak from? I kind of want to experiment with different kinds of wood and don't know where to look.

I think it was the Home Depot? One of the two big box stores.

Thanks! I think it's chromium tanned. It doesn't wet shape very well, and it has a soft suede finish on the nap side, but it can be tooled, it takes oil and wax like top grain and it ages very gracefully. When I asked the guy who sold it to me, he shrugged and said "boot leather."

Sounds like it's been double tanned. A lot of leathers are veg tanned then finished with chrome tanning to speed up the process. Gives it a sort've halfway feel with a little of both. (Yeah, leatherworker :) )

Love the wands and the holster, great designs!

It looks great. Excellent work. Love the shape of the wands as well. Very different and yet simple. I just hope they let you carry it in the park. They may consider it a weapon.
